rosary beads hang outside of the gate to the town of zahle, lebanon. with around 50,000 inhabitants, zahle is the capital and the largest city of the beqaa governance and is the fourth largest city in lebanon after beirut, tripoli and baalbek. 
aahlé is the largest predominantly christian town in all of lebanon and the middle east (with christians forming around 90% of its total population) and the one with the largest number of catholics. while several middle eastern cities have larger christian communities, these do not constitute a majority.
